Cuba announced a few weeks ago that private business could legally expand to many other areas, after updating the legal framework… From having a list of allowed activities, now we have a list of banned ones, leaving wider room for creativity and opportunity… The purpose is to link private initiative with the state-run sector of the economy, as the economy is only one, and both forces are badly needed to move forward in a context of profound crisis, worsened by the pandemic and the lack of tourism, a sector which this country heavily relies on… Is this new list all it takes to see a thriving Cuban economy?
