Cuba has five vaccine candidates under evaluation… We hear about volunteers getting the jabs, with some receiving a placebo, and others the real thing, also there is a lot of debate about how fast or slow these vaccines are being developed and tested… Regulatory authorities are in charge of deciding if a vaccine candidate is good to go, if it’s safe and generates antibodies against the virus… Before getting to the final authorization stage, there is an Ethics Committee in charge of auditing how a drug is tested, and if ethics were respected along the way… In Cuba, the Ethics Committee is in charge of overseeing the work of the vaccine candidate developers, watching out for the rights of those that volunteered to be part of the clinical trials, and giving final approval that is essential to get the green light from the regulatory agency….
