Hi, this is Cuba today. I am Cristina Escobar and you are listening to Radio Havana Cuba …Protecting animals makes us better human beings, and now, it will not only be a matter of ethics or personal decision, but the decree-law establishes accountability for those who mistreat animals in any intentional way… I really like the premise of this decree: animals are sensitive beings, they experiment pain and pleasure. Spokespeople from this Ministry of Agriculture said on national television that this law responded to concerns aired in a nationwide debate, including the active and prolific exchange with activists that were very vocal in expressing what should be included in this decree. I have many questions and concerns regarding the future of how this legislation will be enforced. But this is the correct path forward, that in which we are better human beings on learning to treat animals with respect and love.
