There is a surge in the number of people leaving Cuba by legal means, and entering a route of illegal migration toward the US… They get to the southern border and they get to stay, and are protected by a series of laws and dispositions that are exclusively used for the Cuban migrant… Although there are several migration agreements between Cuba and the US, since the Trump administration these agreements have been violated constantly by the US government… The most recent and dangerous expressions of this problem is the tackling of boats that get to the Cuban coast from the US and human traffickers taking people that paid for it to the US shores… Two of them opened fire on the Cuban maritime authorities… This is a scenario that brings back the very tense years of the Cuban raft crisis when thousands of Cubans took to the sea to get to the US… Then a crisis following the falling of the Soviet Union, now another serious and multidimensional crisis…Hi, this is Cuba today.
