The bill of the new Code of Families, recently approved by the National Assembly of People's Power, the Cuban parliament, was published this week in the Official Gazette, to give way to the popular consult that will begin on February…. After these debates the Code will be voted in a referendum… The document includes many different types of families already present in the Cuban society… It is controversial though… Same-sex marriage, adoption by same sex-couples, rights to grandparents over their grandchildren are some of the issues that will bring debate… Patriarchy, old mentality, religious agendas, prejudices might be behind some of those that say that this code should not pass the referendum… Let’s put this in context…Hi, this is Cuba today.
